Warren William - to start the week

Warren William has always been one of my favorite actors from the early pre-code era that I love so much. His suave, tough mannered style was always backed by impeccably tailored clothing and whether he played a street tough, a kind-hearted sucker, or a scoundrel, he did it better than anyone during the early 30's.

He made some fantastic movies at Warner Brothers including (but certainly not limited to) "The Mouthpiece", "Three On A Match", and "Gold Diggers of 1933" and starting in 1939, starred in the "Lone Wolf" detective series for Columbia.

No matter what film he appeared in, his addition to the movie usually makes it worth seeing if just for his performance alone. And if you get Turner Classic Movies, check out their schedule as they usually play one or two of his movies each month.

1932's "Skyscraper Souls" has been on my wishlist since I first saw it on TCM three years ago. Lovely deco sets, Maureen O'Sullivan, and my introduction to Warren William, a truly forgotten leading man.
