These pictures are from a series (circa, I think, mid-1950's) of El dressing up in various garb which he probably sent out to television producers to show them that he could be multi-dimensional in a number of roles. It's too bad he wasn't given the chance to show his other talents, just stereotyped as the dumb Swede, as I think he would have been PERFECT as a "
bon vivant"!
An interesting note is how many photos show him with cigarettes and cigars for he was a nonsmoker as well as a teetotaler.

I really like the last large picture with that HUGE cigar! Very funny. And he looks so normal in the very last pic, the first of the four in the frame. I agree; he could have done something different and I would have been interested.
