Glass slides kick off 2012!

As I did in 2011, I'll start off the New Year of 2012 with some glass slides from my collection.  I hope this year I will have more time to write for the blog and get to do more research on El.  Happy New Year everyone!

These are so cool! I'm sorry, what are they exactly? Are they small?

They are slides that would be shown before the films so you could advertise films, they are approximately 3" x 4".

I had a question about glass slides, and knew you liked 'em; been meaning to come ask you about it since 2010, which is two years to most people, but in blogging years, was merely a few months ago to me. ;)

Anyway, I had a lantern slide -- or is a lantern slide and a glass slide two different things?? -- for a lost film, and I want to post it on my blog. But I don't really know what to do with the darn thing. I'm a photographer, and just laid it across the lens of my Canon, and shot it, but...seems like there'd be a much less archaic way to do it.

Yours look great!

Ginger,
A lantern slide, as I know it, is a glass slide but usually of a photograph which is projected by a machine that actually looks like a lantern.

As for my scans of glass slides, I use an Epson V700 and scan them as a positive transparency. The Epson is truly the best all around scanner I have found, I can't say enough great things about it!
