Amy Jeanne over at the fantastic "It'll Take The Snap Out of Your Garters" and I must have had Joan Blondell on our minds today as we both thought who better than to post about on Saturday than Joanie. I had been scanning some images this morning of Joan for this post and when I came on line, I saw Amy beat me to it! Enjoy these and hopefully there isn't any overlap!
Maybe the most "pre-code" of all the images I have. Edward Woods should really watch that hand! From "The Public Enemy" (1931).

These are great. I haven't seen any of them except for the last one. If you want any photos out of my LJ -- feel free to use them. I get most of them off ebay so no need to credit me. Spread the Glam!!
Thanks for all the great pictures! Regarding that one from "Public Enemy" perhaps that is form one of the missing scenes. According to some sources, existing prints are edited from the original 96 minutes to 84. By the way, how about a tribute some time to Joan's sister Gloria Blondell? I've got some stills of her that I can lend you...
I went to the grocery store today and decided to take a little trip down Waverly Road. I searched very hard for number 135, but it doesn't seem to exist anymore. The numbers jump from 111 to 265. There *is* a big empty lot between this jump in numbers, though. Perhaps El's former residence no longer exists? That would totally not be cool.
This is East Waverly. I went down West Waverly to make sure. Still no 135. It jumps from 22 to 182 with no empty lots between. Methinks El's house no longer exists :(
Amy, Some of the places you can see on yahoo street maps, but others don't exist. I'm heading down to Washington DC this July and plan to make a stop in Philly and try to find his family's gravestones in the Odd Fellows Cemetery.
Rich, Sure, I am up for a tribute to just about any actor/actress EXCEPT Joe Besser. He sucks.
Can't see your photos -- it says I need a password. El is at Hollywood Forever? That's great. We're going Hollywood grave-hunting in May. Karl Dane has always been on the top of my list of graves to visit. His end is just so terrible to me.

Dude -- I'll come along with you if you stop here to go grave hunting! I'm totally into it!
Yes, I will certainly be stopping in Philly this year to try to find some of these places. Thank Dog for the GPS unit!
I visited Hollywood Forever Cemetery last year when I was in LA and got to see El and Flo's grave AND Karl Dane also. Pics are here:
