This advert comes from the back of a early 30's issue of Theatre Magazine (or maybe one of the numerous movie rags published in them days) and I find these ads hilarious. I pretty sure the cigarette companies wouldn't use this type of sales pitch today but "back in the day" I guess it was OK.

Now they tell people to reach for candy when tempted to smoke a cigarette lol the times they have a-changed :D
The ads were right. I quit smoking in April and gained 8 pounds.

Lucky Strike ads originally said in 1928: "Reach for a Lucky, instead of a sweet." The FTC made them remove the reference to "a sweet" due to the outcry from candy companies.
