early 30's movie premiers - part 1

Here we have a bunch of photos from at least 2 (possibly 3) movie premiers from the early 30's. One of the films I know is the 1931 Universal film "Strictly Dishonorable" as there are photos showing the marquee from it's opening night at the Fox Carthay Circle Theater in Los Angeles on December 26 of that year.

Another of the films may be "The Smiling Lieutenant" as (in part 2 will show) the movie poster display certainly shows Maurice Chevalier's beaming face. I believe that there is actually some from another premier, but at this time I have nothing to go on other than the 3 different displays behind a few of the stars in all the combined pictures.

Also, I used the info that was written on the back of the individual pics for the people I couldn't identify, which also may be incorrect and as with a my previous posts, some of the people in these pictures are unidentified, so those of you with a good eye, let me know if you see somebody you recognize.

Wow. These photos look so crisp and gleaming! I didn't even recognize Edward Everett Horton! And Rochelle Hudson and Anita Page both look adorable. :)

Why does Laura La Plante look so matronly in that photo? She was only 27, and at the time quite pretty.

Wow, Irene Dunne looks so old!

Is that Sidney Fox with Laura LaPlante?
If you have any more pictures of Sidney Fox, don't hesitate to post 'em!

The lady standing with Ivan Lebedeff may be named Peggy Moran, but I doubt she's the Universal actress Peggy Moran. Not only does she not look like her, but the Universal Peggy would have been only 13 in 1931.

Richard,
That could be Sidney Fox, but it's just so hard to tell.

And yes, the so-called Peggy Moran in the photo is not THE Peggy Moran so I removed her name.

Could the unknown woman after the 2nd Pat O'Brien picture be Lupita Tovar???

The mexican actress above Anita Page (1910-2008) is Lupita Tovar (1910-).

I don't know if I can help, but I have an original Premier Program of Consolation Marriage from Oct. 15, 1931. Was also the premier of Disney's "Spider and the Fly" cartoon short. The program sooo deco.

The unknown brunette next to Ivan Lebedeff is probably Sidney Fox. The eyebrows, the hairline, everything seems to match photos of the young Miss Fox.
