From the 1930 and referring to the studio penned snipe on the back:
"There is an art even to breaking eggs, according to El Brendel, comedy king of DeSylva, Brown and Henderson's Fox-Movietone production, "Just Imagine." Unlike Gulliver, he knows exactly which end of the egg should be opened."
I just LOVE these crazy promo pictures that the studios pumped out in the 30's. Who the hell today would have the stones to picture one of their top stars with eggs???

I LOVE stuff like this. I actually collect culinary memorabilia that features stars. I recently acquired a manual featuring Edward Arnold about how to carve a roast :D
Do you have the 1935 cookbook that has recipe's by Hollywood stars? It has been on fleabay a couple of times and ALWAYS sells for big money. Brendel has a page in there and I would love to see what his contribution was.
Haha! I just can't imagine George Clooney at the breakfast table eating eggs in a publicity still, for some reason!
Was it a hardcover book or a booklet? Do you remember the title? I have "What Actors Eat When They Eat," but I think that's from 1939.
I'm not sure my book includes El, but I could check for you :}
Love the photos, Louie. Must have been an off-the-cuff idea, El's hairpiece looks rather hastily applied!
