Sally's photo album - part 10 - Grossinger's

For the last post from Sally's photo album, I give you a load of pics of our girl and Herky taking a vacation at Grossinger's Resort Hotel in New York. Grossinger's was located in the Catskill region of the state and known for having many hotels where people from nearby cities got to leave those urban surroundings, spend some time in the "countryside", and relax a bit.

This part of the album is extraly (is that a word?) cool as there are about a half dozen color pictures that I can only assume are Polaroids, as there is a pic of a man with a Land camera.

I hope you have enjoyed these pictures from Sally and Herky, as this is the last in the series, it's back to movie related posts!

I LOVE this picture!

Interesting series, like plucking something out of the ether otherwise lost forever.

I was at Grossingers when I was a mere six years old in 1962. I later found out that this is where Eddie Cantor "discovered" Eddie Fisher about ten years earlier. For all we know maybe El Brendel knew of the place!

Love that! The picture you loved the most is one I loved the most too. They were so cute together, weren't they? I love the pictures where they both posed doing the same thing, like with the sign and the life preserver. So cute.

Yeah, maybe I should post their wedding album, too.

So long, Sally & Herky, wherever you are. It's been nice visiting with you. I hope you had a good life!

Being a history buff on Grossinger's, I LOVE these pictures! BTW the gentleman with the camera is Lou Goldstein the Social Activities Director for many years at Grossinger's. He was famous for the "Simon Says" game.

I have featured this page on a site where people are genuinely interested in the history of Grossinger's (www.joe4speed.com/phpBB/grossingers/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=370.) The pictures you have posted here are quite rare. Thank you for sharing them!
