Stars on postcards!

These cards in this post were usually given out when fans wrote to the film studios and asked for a photo of their favorite actor or actress. Many of these cards featured images with facsimile autographs and if you were lucky, your Hollywood favorite MIGHT send you one with a real signature!

Thanks to Rich Finegan for the use of these cards from his collection.
Aileen Ray, anyone got any info one her?

I must confess I knew very little about Allene Ray before acquiring this picture of her, as well as a few others. But doing a little research I found her and her career to be quite interesting.
She was a westerns and serial star in the 1920's. I'd like to find some of her films.
The biography and trivia info on this IMDb link give a lot more info:

By the way, despite what appears to be a mis-spelling of her first name in her signature on this card, her first name was Alleen.

Hey can I edit that last line? I meant to say that her first name was Allene.

What an awful picture of Harry Langdon!!! He looks like a serial killer.

(Regarding comment on Harry Langdon picture)...
I like Langdon, but I do know some people who would say that watching his films is murder!

Nice cards- thanks for posting. One little quibble, it should be Alice Gentle, not Gentile. She was an operatic Mezzo-Soprano with a minimal film career- but an interesting one: she got to introduce "The Carioca" and even managed to wear blackface in "Golden Dawn" with some dignity.

Eric,
Thanks for the info. Sometimes I screw up and this is one of the times! Her name has been changed.

No problem! It's nice to see her mentioned someplace.
